Hello. I’m Bruce. I produce digital media.

Web design. Web development. Drawing. Painting. Animation. The list could go on, but the short of it is this — I enjoy making stuff. When in the ‘zone’ (I know you know what I’m talking about), the creative satisfaction derived therefrom is similar regardless of the medium. Esoteric? Hackneyed? No matter. Thanks for dropping by. It’s nice to have guests.

An individual superorganism

What had once been pure play has evolved into a profession. This whole beast started with drawing.

“It’s great and I really like it, but can you change it to be purple instead?” Why, of course I can. It’s my job.

I’m no programer, but I do mess around with code. I know enough to be functionally dangerous.

Optimism & Aptitude

A good attitude…and some chops? They have those? Let me talk to this Robertson fellow.

Why me?

Well, shucks, I am a keen breed of visual communicator who is focused on delivering outstanding digital solutions. And, I’m a pleasant chap with a decent sense of humour, the kind of guy you’d party with after work. Modesty aside, and with respect to professionalism, from conception to completion, I go to the nth degree to make sure you are happy with your project.

What’s all the buzz about?

He demonstrated a level of dedication, determination, innovative thinking, and originality in his design work. The great thing about working with Malcolm is that he is mature and can easily understand briefs, and has the where-with-all to research and explore topics concerning any unknowns and analyze it through a reflective practice and process. He is a great critical thinker and can make independent decisions effectively.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Bruce personally for over thirty years, throughout our professional, and academic careers; he remains the most dynamic, original visual artist I’ve ever met. Bruce has created websites to showcase my paintings since the days when galleries would ask, “what’s a website?”. He has never failed to present my work in the most elegant, and innovative ways, and I would recommend his talents to anyone with discerning standards.

I’ve known Bruce for many years and I consider him to be one of the most creative, divergent thinkers I know. He takes great pride in his work and always gives 100%. Not only is he a great designer and programmer, he challenges himself outside his profession with his striking paintings (of which I have two) and his mountain biking skill is at a level many professionals strive for – all of which are examples of his dedication to anything he puts his mind to.

Hey Bruce, congratulations on your recent program completion at SAIT. For other readers, Bruce worked for me at 3Web and TeloSysteme both under Distributel as a graphics designer and also as QA on our retail and wholesale portals. Bruce has a great attention to detail and pretty quick at delivering low res ‘proof of concepts’ for approval of design and then able to follow up that approval with full quality site ready graphics and layout.

Throughout my creative career, I’ve met only a handful of true hybrids. Bruce stands out in my mind as one of the best. From branding, copywriting and old school illustration to user interface design, ad campaigns and all points in between, his skill set encompasses the conceptual depth and executional breadth of a small agency. Bruce wields the tools like a master; however, he never hides behind them. His work is invariably backed by clear strategy, real-world results and a never-abating passion for his craft. Bruce is both a pleasure to work with, and a formidable secret weapon with which to decimate the competition.

More glowing praise and flowery testimonials are forthcoming. One ought be patient when begging for this kind of thing.

Online footprint

“Be careful how you behave in public, for you may very well end up on the Internet.” — Bruce Robertson, 2015. Anyone has the potential to display poor form, as we are fallible creatures; however, it is wise to adopt a protocol of politeness and friendly outwardness when broadcasting oneself to the world.
